Head of LLDIKTI Region III Inaugurated as Professor

 The Head Of LDIKTI III  was inaugurated as Professor  in the Field of Data Science at Graha Sanusi Hardjadinata, Wednesday (27/09/2023). Prof. Dr. Toni Toharudin, S.Sc., M.Sc., delivered a scientific oration on Education Development in Indonesia: A Science Data Perspective. Looking at the current conditions in Indonesia, including aspects of economic growth, university graduates who are not ready for the world of work, and technological developments, according to Toni, education is very important. 

"Education and skills development are the keys to facing digital developments," he said. This is in line with the use of big data by industry and the business sector in analyzing customer behavior and so on.

In this context, Toni said that scientific data has a very important role in the development of smart cities . One of them, Metaverse, which offers a virtual environment, is explained by Toni as an interesting thing in education since 2022.

“ Metaverse offers a virtual environment within schools. Interactive learning experiences allow students to learn in an engaging virtual environment. "Students can gather in a virtual space to discuss joint projects and various social activities," he said.

In addition, metaverse technology is still in the development stage and further evolution will occur. The metaverse is therefore an interesting field to monitor.

So far, countries that have carried out massive research on the metaverse include South Korea and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, metaverse research in Indonesia is still lagging behind.

From his analysis, Toni believes that Indonesia can maximize Indonesia's demographic bonus in 2045 by utilizing scientific data.

The six aspects that Toni said were important to improve were equal distribution of educational services, quality of learning and teaching, relevance of education, women's participation in education, quality of cooperation-based vocations, and entrepreneurship.

The inauguration took place solemnly. Prof. Toni Toharudin, S.Si., M.Sc., was inaugurated by the Chair of the Board of Professors at Padjadjaran University, Prof. Arief Anshory Yusuf.

On that occasion, Toni specifically expressed his infinite gratitude and gratitude for the services of his parents and the Muhammadiyah organization.

He said that he was raised and educated by the Muhammadiyah organization. Accompanied by emotion, Toni said that his father was a Muhammadiyah cadre who often rode his bicycle during activities at Muhammadiyah.

This was appreciated by the Chancellor of UMJ Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Sc., who was also present and congratulated him on this achievement. Ma'mun said that Toni has two important meanings for him personally. Firstly as Head of LLDIKTI Region III who always supports the progress of UMJ.

Second, as a Muhammadiyah cadre. “Mas Toni dared to declare his position as a Muhammadiyah cadre. "This is one thing that I think should be imitated by Muhammadiyah cadres who currently hold public positions, not to hesitate and be afraid to declare themselves as Muhammadiyah cadres," said Ma'mun.

Also present to witness the inauguration of the General Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Sc., General Secretary of PP Muhamamdiyah, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu'ti, M.Ed., as well as Guest Professor.

Also present was the Deputy Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, Prof. Dr. Paiman Raharjo, MM, M.Sc., and Deputy Chancellor of UMJ.
