FTan UMJ Invites MABA to Plant Caisim Using a Hydroponic System
Faculty of Agriculture , Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta (FTan ) carries out an Introduction to New Student Campus Life (PKKMB) at the faculty level. The FTan Student Executive Board (BEM) introduced hydroponic cultivation to new students (new students) as the main PKKMB program. This activity was carried out at the FTan UMJ hydroponic garden, Thursday (21/09/2023).
Deputy of the FTan Student Executive Board (BEM), Novanto, explained that this year's FTan PKKMB carried out different activities from previous years, namely hydroponic planting, acoponics and making liquid organic fertilizer. Hydroponics is a new program launched by the Chancellor of UMJ, Prof. Dr. Ma'mun Murod, M.Sc., to introduce new students to the process of cultivating in hydroponic fields.
"We also carry out practical activities in making liquid organic fertilizer (poc) for agrotechnology friends so that agricultural students can reformulate organic into a new innovation for agriculture in Indonesia. "Later, fellow new students will take part in planting a seed," said Novanto.
Making poc requires supporting ingredients including leftover vegetables such as carrots, corn husks, bay leaves, then EM4, sugar water and water. This process consists of several stages. Apart from teaching how to make poc, the FTan students also explained how to plant spinach, bok choy and kale.
Novanto hopes that this program can support the knowledge of new students where new students must be able to transform their knowledge for agriculture in the future. "Hopefully what is obtained can bring change and progress to Indonesian agriculture in the future," said Novanto. (MT/NV/KSU).
