FKK UMJ Holds the First Class of Midwives' Professional Oath
The first batch of graduates of the Midwife Professional Study Program, Faculty of Medicine and Health, Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta (FKK ) were sworn in at the Dr. Auditorium. Syafri Guricci, Wednesday (20/09/2023). A total of eight graduates were sworn in by the Head of the Midwife Professional Study Program, Dr. Elli Hidayati, SST., MKM.
The Oath Taking Procession was solemnly witnessed by Deputy Chancellor I Dr. Muhammad Hadi, M.Kep., Dean of Dr. Dr. Muhammad Fachri, Sp.P, FAPSR., along with the Deputy Deans, FKK UMJ academic community, families and relatives of graduates.
Elli reported that in the first batch of graduates, all Midwifery Professional Study Program students were 100% declared Competent in the National Midwife Competency Test which was held in August 2023. These results are based on an official announcement issued in early September 2023.
The highest Cumulative Achievement Index (GPA) score in the first class of the Midwife Professional Study Program was achieved by Bdn. Nanda Febriyanti, S.Keb., namely 3.82 with the title Praise. Nanda admitted that these results were achieved thanks to great support from parents, lecturers and classmates.
According to him, the learning process cannot be passed alone without support and prayers from parents and guidance from lecturers which is very important. He expressed his gratitude to all lecturers and UMJ staff for the knowledge and experience that cannot be expressed in words.
"Hopefully I can protect my alma mater, the knowledge I get at UMJ can be applied and accepted by society. "Hopefully I can also carry out this quite heavy mandate," said Nanda on the sidelines of the event.
Nanda was the student representative who was given the badge by DKI Jakarta Region Sri Indiah, S.Si.T., MM. On that occasion, Sri Indiah advised all graduates to maintain and improve competence, and always instill enthusiasm and serve with heart.
He emphasized this because society is increasingly advanced and demands quality health services. Sri said that midwives have a very noble duty as partners of women who serve with very broad responsibilities.
“Midwives work with science and art. "In this era of globalization, the challenges are extraordinary, so you need to have innovations so you can be competitive," he said. A similar message was also conveyed by the Dean of FKK UMJ Dr. Dr. Muhammad Fachri, Sp.P, FAPSR., FISR.
Fachri said that graduates could apply and develop their knowledge and skills in society. "A sense of empathy has always been a provision in carrying out one's mandate as a midwife, especially after the pandemic which has changed the new face of the world of health," he said.
In facing the industrial era 5.0, Fachri said that graduates are required to have several roles. First, the role of professionals as implementers tasked with providing care to the community from the pregnancy process to reproductive health.
Second, as a manager who is able to develop health services, participate in implementing health programs. Third, as an educator who provides education in the form of counseling to individuals, families and communities about maternal and child health. Fourth, as a researcher in charge of conducting applied research both individually and in teams.
Meanwhile, UMJ Deputy Chancellor I Dr. Muhammad Hadi, M.Kep., said that graduates should be able to think multi-linearly and multi-talented. This is because many graduates of certain professions do not pursue careers according to their profession and are quite successful.
According to him, multi-talent is important, especially when working in a team requires collaboration. "I am sure that midwifery technology is very advanced, especially when working in a team with health workers and other professions such as doctors, nurses and nutritionists. "So inter professional collaboration," he concluded.
Taking the Oath was enlivened by traditional dance performances by FKK UMJ students, and song performances from graduates. The oath taking with the theme You Decided How You Meet The End of The Journey was also attended by Deputy Deans, academics from FKK UMJ, and teaching hospitals.
