UMJ FISIP Students Win Silver Medals at the National Championship

Happy news came from Student of Political Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences,  (  UMJ) Mutia Alifia. At the Tugumuda National Pencak Silat Championship IV, at the Wujil Pandanaan Gymnasium, Semarang, Saturday-Sunday (12-13/08/2023), Mutia won a silver medal for the pencak silat sport (sports).

Mutia was able to score 20 points in the first half and 13 points with a ratio of 13 : 11 in the second half. However, Mutia admitted that her preparation for this match was not optimal.

“Because of time constraints and the many schedules to train school students that I have. But I always take the time to repeat one or two techniques at home for around 15 to 20 minutes," said Mutia.

Not only was it a matter of preparation, Mutia said she had a leg injury before going to Semarang, which made her nervous before the match. However, what Mutia did not expect was that she was able to win 2nd place against two other athletes.

This success is also supported by the university and family who always provide support both morally and materially. Mutia felt very proud of the silver medal she had won. Even so, it cannot be denied that he also regretted his failure to win a gold medal.

“But I know this is a process and I may not always get a gold medal. So I have to be lighthearted and sporty . In the future, I hope that my injury will get better soon, so that I can be more enthusiastic about training and get another gold medal in the next championship,” said Mutia.

The Tugumuda Championship IV National Pencak Silat Championship is a national level competition, which is dominated by participants from Central Java. One of the universities participating in the Tugumuda championship is Sebelas Maret University from Solo.
