UMJ Students Pass the FISU World Athletics Sports Final 2023
Wahyu Setiawan , a sports education student , University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta (POR FIP ), successfully entered the final round of the 100-meter athletics event at the event held in Chengdu, China, (02/08/2023).
FISU World is the largest and most prestigious celebration in the field of sports and culture among world universities which is held every two years. FISU World is attended by students from all over the world including Indonesia. This international sports competition is a forum for student athletes to combine sports and education.
Wahyu Setiawan was chosen to represent UMJ based on achievement data selection conducted by . He expressed this proud achievement with pleasure. Because apart from making the country and university proud, Wahyu also claimed to be able to learn new cultures from other participants from various countries.
“After passing the selection, I practiced all the time. Because athletes must maintain their condition at all times, also assisted with a balanced nutritional intake. Luckily UMJ fully supports my journey so that I can get to the final round," said Wahyu.
In line with this, Wahyu is also one of the UMJ students who previously won many achievements in athletic championships both nationally and internationally. One of them was at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, Wahyu managed to donate a gold medal in the athletics branch for Indonesia.
Wahyu also revealed the difference he felt when he competed at FISU WORLD with the 2023 Sea Games. “Obviously it's different. Because the Sea Games is at the level of Southeast Asia, FISU WORLD is at the world level. Likewise with the level of difficulty, “said Wahyu
Furthermore, Wahyu conveyed the plan for the upcoming competition, namely the Training Center which will take place in China for 3 months. Wahyu hopes that he will always give his best for the country and university in every match. (NV/MT/KSU).
